What
are Skill Sets?
A skill is an ability to perform an activity in a competent manner. There
are three main sets of skills:
Transferable
skills are the actions taken to perform a task. They are transferable
to different work functions and industries. They are typically communicated
in verbs such as organize, promote and analyze.
Knowledge-based
skills are the work-specific information or technical knowledge
required to perform a specific task or carry out a procedure. They are
typically communicated in nouns such as human resources, statistics or
accounting.
Personal
Traits / Attitude skills are traits or personality characteristics
which contribute to effective work performance. They are generally communicat
by adjectives such as patient, results-oriented, and collaborative.
